Thankyou Alice Springs

Welcome to THE Coyle Crew blog!

If you know my husband (aka Kevin Patrick Coyle / Mr International Traveller / mostly vegan ironman triathlete) you may have well come across his blog (. He is a man of many words, and his blog is just the same (in a good way) filled with data, race analyses, nutrition advice, the list goes on! check it out if you have time!

If you know me you may well have realised I am a girl of few words, and this blog will probably reflect that! I’m much happier behind a camera, and hope to fill this blog with the Coyle crew adventures through pictures, videos and a few words along the way. enjoy!

This first post sums up our time in Alice Springs, Kevin lived here for 6 years, I was here for 5, so many wonderful memories and friends we made that we will never forget!

Its 2018!!

Wow, where did the time go. The grand plans of blogging every month from August 2017 onwards didn’t quite work. They say a picture paints a thousand words so here is a summary of the last few months to catch up on things…

lots of exploring where to ride and run in Tucson, climbed the tallest mountain around at 8000 feet – Mt Lemmon!

getting to know about ‘real’ football, half ironman in Arizona and Halloween!

travelled back to Australia for a one week class for my masters degree at James Cook University in Townsville, surprised that both my Mum and Dad (who has never flown in his life!) came to stay with me there! 36 hours after arriving back in the US I then did my 10th ironman at Ironman Arizona with my husband. Not the best time (10:44) but motivation is back to do this race justice in 2018! Finished off the month with an RV trip with Kev, his Mum and Step-Dad to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, super impressed with their ability to rock climb with us over many mountains!

road trip across country to visit Kev’s family in New Jersey and New York State, learning how to ski in -16degree (celsius) weather and Christmas!

And Finally! We have pretty much finished setting up our home in Tucson, Arizona. Our furchild Sydney is pretty proud of her pad and wanted to model each individual room for you. Enjoy.

hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years! Will try and do better at this blogging in 2018. Time to eat some fluff πŸ™‚

Welcome to Tucson!

3 weeks have flown by since we said goodbye to Alice Springs and hello to Tucson! A good friend said the first 3 weeks are the trickiest for everything and that is ringing true for this move!

The first week we stayed in a hotel, which allowed dogs! Sydney had fun ordering room service, travelling on elevators and making friends with the cleaning ladies.

The first week was a culture shock, jet lag, donut eating, rushing around everywhere kind of week. We both discovered our Australian licences couldn’t be transferred to a US licence so had to sit a written test and driving assessment. With one day of practicing driving in a hire car on the ‘wrong’ side of the road I just scrapped through but passed! My husband on the other hand (ask him how he went πŸ™‚).

Our house and new cars!

the aussie got the licence first go πŸ™‚

And we bought an RV!!! The plan is to tour around in it for training and triathlon races. Her name is Priscilla.

Unfortunately we are learning the hard way about some of her functions…..

Now into our 3rd week here and things are starting to settle down. Kevin has started work fulltime at Raytheon while I start my fulltime studies into finishing my masters. We are into the training for Ironman Arizona in 14 weeks. One thing I’m still adjusting to is the food, so much of it and so much sugar everywhere!

Will definitely take a while for this place to feel like home, but with my favourite person and furchild here, there’s no other place I’d rather be.

Seeyou next month!
